The Southeast Volusia Historical Society is committed to collecting, preserving and archiving artifacts, photos, and printed material related to New Smyrna Beach and surrounding areas.

Sheldon Research Library

A variety of material is available in the Sheldon Research Library to individuals interested in the histories of local people and places. Our collection includes books, city directories, past issues of local newspapers, yearbooks, family files and more.

  • Access is by appointment
  • Access is included in museum admission fee
  • Since much of the material is rare and fragile, archival security measures are in effect

Sweett Collection

The Sweett Collection features native American artifacts found by one family in and around New Smyrna over the course of almost 200 years. Complete Pre-Columbian clay pots, pottery shards, projectile points, and shell and bone tools comprise the collection.
