Join us as Pelipe De Paula, Registrar and Assistant Curator at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum shares about this local historic structure. The Pacetti Hotel has stood on the north side of Mosquito Inlet (now Ponce De Leon Inlet) for over 130 years. The Pacetti family that first built it can trace their lineage back to the New Smyrna Colony of the 1760s. What started as a small fishing resort grew to attract anglers and visitors from around the country. Eventually the hotel would be sold to the Gamble family, of Procter and Gamble fame. Recently this historic structure was purchased by the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association because of the close connection between the two sites. This presentation will cover everything that has been learned thus far about the Pacetti Hotel, as well as the ongoing efforts to restore, preserve, and interpret this historic structure.
