Museum Matinee Program- Archaeology Works: “Fishing”
Archaeologists can learn about prehistoric fishing through artifacts like fish hooks and net gauges as well as finding the fish remains themselves. Come explore various artifacts and fishing techniques through hand-on activities. Registration required please contact the museum at NSMofHistory@gmail.com or 386.478.0052 to register. All museum programming is made available on an admission by donation basis.

Night at the Museum is the largest annual fundraiser for the Southeast Volusia Historical Society & New Smyrna Museum of History, the event attracts approximately 200 attendees annually. The Southeast Volusia Historical Society, who operates the museum, is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization. All funds raised go to support the activities of the Historical Society and the New Smyrna Museum of History and the maintenance of the Museum facility a 94 year old landmark.
The museum hosts community programming focused on young learners as well as adults and is made available on a monthly basis. Housed within the Museum are the Grange-Moore Archaeology Research Center and Sheldon Research Library, which, along with the Museum programming, are made available to the public on an admission by donation basis to ensure that all who are interested have access.

Explore how archaeologists learn about the people in the past from these baked bits of clay and try your hand at creating and decorating your own pot.
