Join us for a History Walking Tour focused on the Canal Street Historic District. Learn about the railroad industry, old movie theaters, long forgotten businesses, local architecture, local characters, and much more.
This is a casual walk through downtown New Smyrna Beach and lasts approximately an hour and a half. There are stops during the tour as your guide discusses local landmarks.
Meet at the museum between 10am and 10:30am. The tour costs $8 for Southeast Volusia Historical Society members and $10 for non-members. You may purchase a 3 pack of walks. Take any 3 walking tours you want; take all 3 or take the same tour 3 times.
The cost for members is $20 and non-member cost is $25. Payment may be made by cash and credit card at the museum.

Starting at the The Riverview Hotel & Spa lobby you can learn about how the third floor was added, why is there a grave on Canova Drive, how did Canova Drive get its name, what does watch and warn mean, see a “building within a building” and more.
The tour departs at 10:30 so be there ahead of time. You may pay ahead of time at the museum or see the guide at the hotel. Ticket price is $8 for Southeast Volusia Historical Society members and $10 for non-members. The tour lasts between an hour and a half and an hour and 45 minutes. Archaeologists find lots of clues to the past, but how do they figure out how old all those dusty artifacts are? From looking at how artifact styles change through time to running high tech tests on them, archaeologists have many dating techniques at their disposal. Learn about a few of these and then try them out yourself!
