The New Smyrna Museum of History is operated by the Southeast Volusia Historical Society (SVHS). Established in 1982, the SVHS is a not-for-profit organization. The museum was housed in the historic Connor Library in the Old Fort Park before moving to its present location in the "Old Post Office" on Sams Avenue in 2003.
The mission of the Southeast Volusia Historical Society is to collect, archive, display, and make available to the public artifacts related to the Southeast Volusia County area. Through the New Smyrna Museum of History we promote interest in, and knowledge of, local history and culture.
